Why see Trans-Siberian Orchestra: The Lost Christmas Eve?

The Lost Christmas Eve Tour

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is hitting the road once again in 2024, bringing their electrifying holiday rock opera to audiences across North America. To mark the 20th anniversary of their fourth studio album, The Lost Christmas Eve, the progressive metal group will perform 109 shows throughout November and December. Join them for a festive celebration that spans over two decades of Christmas magic! Along with The Lost Christmas Eve, fans can expect some of the band's greatest hits, making it clear why audiences keep coming back year after year.

As in usual TSO fashion, The Lost Christmas Eve tells a story through lasers, pyrotechnics and music, it follows a bitter old man, alone on Christmas Eve, wandering the streets of New York. Once full of promise, he chose wealth and isolation after the tragic death of his wife. His decision cost him his son, who he abandoned as a baby. But on this fateful night, a chance meeting with a mysterious girl changes everything. He learns his son is alive, now working as a caregiver for newborns. In a quiet reunion, the son's forgiving gaze melts years of regret. Together, they sit, comforting the innocent, beginning a new chapter of hope and redemption.

Who are TSO?

The rock band's concerts are arguably the most visually dazzling live event you're ever likely to see, featuring giant video screens, a pyrotechnics display that rivals many cities' New Year's celebrations, and more lasers than Star Wars. Composed of four original members, the group's touring lineup's ranks are swelled with entire string sections, and dozens of extra musicians and choirs.

As for the music, TSO takes the likes of Pink Floyd and Yes as their inspiration, adding in elements of classical music, heavy metal, and just about anything else that takes their fancy. You won't find many other bands switching from a lacerating guitar solo to the heavenly voices of a children's choir without a moment's notice. The Ghosts of Christmas Eve Tour is named after the band's 1999 holiday-themed\rock opera TV movie which they'll be playing live!

An amazing Xmas outing

Did the people complaining below even listen to the band before seeing the show? TSO is known for being loud, over the top and theatrical. That's why many people pay to see their show. I laugh at those who thought the show was "satanic" because it used fire effects. And that "satanic" song that people are complaining about is Il Fortuna, one of the best known operatic works in the world. You can find it on their third album (reinforcing the idea that these people never even listened to the band. Was the pacing perfect? Not quite, but otherwise it was so much fun that my mouth hurt from smiling so much. ... Read more

Best Ever!

Best Concert or Event I’ve ever seen! This was my first time to see TSO, I’ve wanted to over the past decade or so when I learned of them. I had a pretty good idea what TSO was, but never experienced in person. I’m a musician & FOH (front of house) engineer for local & regional events. I must say this was the best concert I’ve ever attended, hands down! The show was over 2.5 hours & went by quickly, this was their 25-year anniversary! There was not a bad seat in the house. Sightline & visibility was wide open due to their stage layout & design. World class musicians, running around and having fun for/with the crowd. It seemed sincere and real, they weren’t there just putting in time, they were fired up & energized putting on the best show possible. From a technical standpoint, the cleanest & most aesthetically pleasing stage I’ve ever seen. This means super clean, no mess, no cables, no crew members visible. Amazing visual in every way, the lighting was huge, and they set a mood with every change and lighting scene. There’s a lot to take in and see - many moving lights, giant led screens, moving trussing / platforms, fog / haze, low lying fog – dry ice, fire, incredible lasers, snow / bubbles, pyro spark burst, moving riser platforms over the front audience performers were on for various songs. Big Kudos to all of the crews, stage, techs, FOH, lighting and whoever programed everything! The audio was outstanding in every way. Speaker arrays were flown and out of the way, with small front fills for folk on the floor. Coverage was great, the quality of the audio was unmatched. Exceptionally clean & quiet & during soft passages, thick, meaty & crisp during the rocking songs. All instruments & vocals could be picked out of the mix, it was extraordinarily transparent. It was in your face, but not at all abrasive or too much. All of the vocalist, sting section, musicians were awesome, a huge bonus for me was seeing Jeff Scott Soto! I didn’t realize he was part of this tour! An overall assault on your senses, there’s a lot to take in! The massiveness of the production visually and audibly is amazing & extremely impressive! I recommend it to anyone that loves Christmas, great musicianship, fantastic over the top production! I will be back next year. ... Read more

TSO - So Much Talent, Technology and Beauty. Loved it!

Was totally enthralled with the talent, the visuals and the fantastic musical arrangements. Christmas never sounded or looked so good! Someone commented, "a little heavy on the religion." I don't know what that means, but Christmas...really? The two female lead vocalists were superb; different styles with equally strong impact. Guitarists and fiddle player were top tier and pivotal to the show. The piano player was great, totally focused with unbelievable energy and style. The other singers and dancers added a classy element in every appearance. We're going to make this show a tradition for the family every Christmas. "In the Hall of the Mountain King" was fantastic. Would be great to hear "Night on Bald Mountain." Well done, TSO. You are truly peerless in your art. ... Read more
